There is little information about the water level in the Lake Chad Basin. Due to the absence of adequate monitoring networks in the member countries of the basin, few data is available on groundwater levels and their fluctuations. In the period from 2007 to 2021, the CBLT-BGR project gained insights into the groundwater level and its dynamics of the Quaternary aquifer shared by the member countries. Water levels were studied in open wells and piezometers, and some piezometers were equipped with automatic data loggers. The values were atmospherically corrected and are presented as groundwater level below ground surface.
