The Lake Chad Basin Regional Biodiversity Action Plan (LCB-RBAP) 2023–2028 aims to restore and sustainably manage ecosystems across the Lake Chad Basin, addressing biodiversity loss driven by climate change, population growth, pollution, and habitat destruction. It aligns with global and regional frameworks and focuses on three priority areas: sustainable biological resource management, biodiversity monitoring, and equitable benefit-sharing from genetic resources. The plan outlines specific targets and activities, supported by stakeholder engagement, capacity building, and a robust monitoring and evaluation system. With an estimated budget of USD 392 million, implementation involves national governments, local communities, and international partners. The LCBC oversees coordination, reporting, and institutional monitoring to ensure progress toward biodiversity conservation and regional stability.
